The name “Cosmos” is defined as a harmonious universe. It was chosen because we wanted to provide a place where people in the community could get together and relax. The walls in the café are an exhibition space for local artists artwork and feature music on Friday and Saturday. Cosmos Coffee Café was started in October of 2004. The brainchild of Patrick Hoz, and Paul Johnson, who thought that introducing a hip urban café in the heart of La mesa would be an entrepreneurial challenge. In 2010, Patrick and Paul sold the café to Ari Bejar, a recent transplant from the San Francisco Bay area. Ari, a chef by trade, and his wife and son have embraced the idea of Cosmos and are infusing their own philosophies about recycling, eco friendliness, community activism, and using local ingredients in a “field to table” menu that will be featured in the café.

San Diego Folk Heritage is an all volunteer 501 C non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the folk arts in Southern California.

Our MissionrnSan Diego Folk Heritage preserves and promotes acoustic music, storytelling, and Contra Dances in greater San Diego. We provide an opportunity for members of the community to see, hear, and take part in these activities. We meet these goals throughout the year by presenting concerts, and storytelling by local artists, by offering weekly Contra Dances featuring live music, and by sponsoring concerts by touring musicians. In addition, we present the Sam Hinton Folk Heritage Festival every May, featuring concerts, Contra Dances, storytelling, and educational workshops. We also co-sponsor the Sea Chantey Festival on board the Star of India, and the Train Song Festival at Old Poway Park in October.
